The Cobalt Apex features what Japanese scissor masters call the YL design—a specialised blade geometry that's prized for its exceptional cutting power and precision.
The foundation is the Hamaguri-ha (clam shell) convex edge, which provides extraordinary sharpness while maintaining structural integrity. What makes the Apex special is how Japanese craftsmen have enhanced this design with reinforced cutting power at the tip.
In traditional Japanese scissor making, this is known as "刃先のカット力" (Hasaki no katto-ryoku) or "cutting power at the blade tip"—a prized characteristic specifically for scissors used in precision work.

"I've been using the Cobalt Apex scissors in my Sydney salon for nearly 6 months. As someone who specialises in precision cutting and technical shapes, these have become my absolute go-to.
The first thing you notice is that incredible tip strength. When you're working on detailed sections or doing point cutting, these just bite through the hair with no resistance whatsoever. For clients with particularly thick or coarse hair, they're a complete game-changer.
What I appreciate most is the balance between precision and comfort. I can work all day on detailed cuts, and my hand doesn't suffer for it. That's quite rare with precision scissors—you usually sacrifice one for the other.
The VG-10 cobalt steel is genuinely impressive. Haven't needed to sharpen them once despite daily use in a busy salon. The tension system is brilliant too—stays exactly where you set it without drifting during intensive work.
I've found myself relying on the entire kit that comes with it. The texturising razor is particularly excellent for refining graduated bobs, and the carbon fibre comb has become my go-to for precision cuts.

Loverly and sharp. Nice and light. My only problem is that half way through a cut i have to tighten them. They get loose. Not great. I can actually feel when they are getting loose.

Bought these to reduce the strain with the heavy pairs but I was worried it would be too light and not cut. Leave it to Japan to make something half the weight and twice the strength and cutting performance . Balance is top notch . Has made in japan so you known it’s real

Been using Juntetsu since 2019! Just replaced my 6.0” pair I dropped. You can totally get 5000 cuts from these. Japanese shears are the only choice. The best

Its hard to find an authentic 4.5” pro cutting shear nowadays. Happy Juntetsu keeps these when others drop their smaller models
I bought these two pairs of texturizing shears and they are such a deal! Don’t spend $1000 when you can get these. Balanced, cut great and same steel as super expensive shears.

Sits beautifully in my hands and due to the narrowed pointed blades it slices , point cuts and channel cuts fantastically .. prescission is effortless .. the blades are fabulously sharp and quiet .. ( not clanky) .. I was nervous as this wasn’t a range that I was aware of and also buying before you try can be a nightmare .. but with endless research .. I’m very happy I’ve chosen Juntetsu .. I will be needing another smaller pair and I will not hesitate now on the same brand. Love them

Saturday order received on Friday In SG. It was not good as I expected. Pulling hair while I thinning roots of hair and side cutting short as well. I'm not sure is it supposed to be like this. But what I can say it was not worth this price to get this quality. I was hoping it was more smooth while thinning. Already bought it what can I do.
