The Juntetsu Crane Super Offset is a Japanese VG-10 hair cutting scissor with a hand-honed convex edge, a satin finish, and a crane-style super offset handle built around all-day comfort. It is available in 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 inch sizes for right-handed cutting.
The Crane Super Offset is designed for stylists and barbers who cut for hours at a time and want the work to stay light in the hand. Its character comes from three things working together: a lightweight balanced body, a true convex edge, and an ergonomic handle that lowers the strain of a full day of appointments.
The crane super offset handle takes its name from the long, curved neck that carries the thumb ring lower and further forward than a standard offset. That geometry lets the thumb sit in a more natural, relaxed position, which reduces the wrist rotation and thumb spread that build up over a long shift. A removable finger rest lets you fine-tune the balance to your own grip and cutting style.
VG-10 is a Japanese high-carbon stainless steel valued for edge retention and corrosion resistance, hardened here to around 60-61 HRC. The blades are finished with a hand-honed convex (hamaguri) edge, the profile most cutting specialists prefer for clean slice and slide cutting. It moves smoothly through wet or dry hair and holds a crisp point for detail work, point cutting and blunt cutting.
The Juntetsu ball-bearing adjustment screw gives a smooth open-and-close action and holds its setting through repeated use, so the tension you set in the morning is the tension you finish the day with. Consistent tension is what keeps a convex edge cutting cleanly rather than folding or pushing hair.
The 5.5 inch suits precision and detail work and smaller hands. The 6.0 inch is the all-round choice for most salon cutting. The 6.5 inch gives extra reach and leverage for scissor-over-comb and barbering.
Is this scissor available for left-handed stylists?
This model is built as a right-handed scissor. If you need a true left-handed pair, contact our team before ordering and we will let you know the current options.
What hair types and techniques does it suit?
It handles all hair types and is well suited to slice cutting, slide cutting, point cutting, blunt cutting and scissor-over-comb. The ergonomic handle makes it a strong choice for high-volume cutting.
How do I care for a convex edge?
Wipe the blades clean and dry after each client and add a drop of scissor oil at the pivot regularly. Convex edges should only be sharpened by a sharpener trained on convex blades, never on a flat-hone service.
Where is it made?
The Crane Super Offset is made in Japan from Japanese VG-10 steel.
